Simon calls his photograph "We're All Gonna Die — 100 Meters of Existence." His aim in recording the images was to capture "the uniqueness of 'ordinary' people".

The project by Simon is intended to capture a slice of life. In an interview with Darren Rowse he stated that he believes it is helpful to us to keep in mind the brevity of our existence on this earth not to become fearful about it but rather to get in touch with our hopes and longings in order to make our lives more meaningful.

The photograph - a montage - features 178 people shot on a railroad bridge in Berlin in 2007 over the course of 20 days. Around 3000 photographs were shot in all and none were staged. All photographs featured people on the street who just happened to be walking by.
